Privacy Policy

SayLa (the “Service”) is operated by Great X Inc. (“we”). This policy explains what we collect, why, how it is used, and your rights.

Eligibility

SayLa is only for users aged 18 or older. If you are under 18, do not download or use the Service, and do not provide any personal data to us.

What we collect

• Anonymous account identifier: a random anonymous account is created when you first open the app. No name, email, or phone number is required. You may optionally link your account with Sign in with Apple so your learning records survive device changes and reinstalls.
• Learning records: completed lessons, practice answers, conversation text, recurring mistakes and their improvement, streaks, and gamification state (hearts, coins, quests, badges, league scores).
• Voice content: when you use voice input, speech is transcribed to text on your device using Apple speech recognition (audio may be processed by Apple under its terms); audio recordings are never sent to SayLa servers. Only the transcribed text is sent to our server and processed by Google Gemini (a third-party AI) to generate corrections, conversation replies, and speech, and is stored in your learning records. The app asks for your explicit consent before first use.
• Device and usage information: basic technical records needed to operate the Service (such as API usage counts).
• Rewarded ads (Free plan): Free-plan users may choose to watch a rewarded video ad served by Google AdMob in exchange for additional practice questions that day. We request non-personalized ads only, do not use cross-app tracking, and do not request App Tracking Transparency permission. During ad playback, Google may process device information under its privacy policy. Paid plans contain no ads.

How data is used

• To provide core features: speaking practice, AI feedback, progress tracking, and personalized lesson selection.
• To keep the Service secure and prevent abuse (e.g., usage limits).
• To improve the product. We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for advertising.

Third-party services

• Supabase: database, authentication, and file storage.
• Google (Gemini API): AI language feedback and speech synthesis. Your practice text (never audio recordings) is sent to Google for real-time processing.
• Apple (speech recognition): voice input is transcribed on device; audio may be processed by Apple under its terms.
• Apple: app distribution and in-app purchases (subscriptions are handled by Apple; we never receive your payment details).
• Google AdMob: used only for user-initiated rewarded ads on the Free plan, serving non-personalized ads only.

Retention and deletion

Learning records are kept until you delete your account. You can delete your account and all associated data immediately in the app (Settings → Delete Account), or email support@say-la.com and we will complete deletion within 30 days. Deleting your account does not cancel an active Apple subscription — cancel it separately in your Apple account settings.

Children

The Service is only for adults aged 18 or older and is not directed at minors. If we learn that we have collected a minor’s personal data without consent, we will delete it immediately.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time. Because accounts are anonymous, please contact us through the app or by email with enough information to identify your account.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page with an updated effective date.
